A CONNECTED COMMUNITY
Connectedness relates to the information flow of communication technologies, and how these innovations can be leveraged to support the development of a smart community. This page is devoted to the connective technologies that are making Bronzeville into a connected community of the future: an advanced communications network and grid-connected technologies that work together to enable renewable energy and provide customers with more information and energy options, initiatives that align with wide-reaching goals for the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois, encouraging social equity by targeting the digital divide.
SMARK KIOSK PILOT
ComEd has partnered with Interactive Kiosk Experience (IKE) and a local site host to install and pilot (3) “life-sized” interactive kiosks in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. The first kiosk was installed at the corner of 35th and Dr. Martin Luther King Drive. The second two installations were completed in 2020 and are located at the corners of 47th and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, as well as 35th and State Street. The kiosks will enable public Wi-Fi, high-speed connectivity; local real – time community updates; emergency alerts; wayfinding; and public transportation route updates.
